One of my earliest musical memories as a child was sitting in the passenger seat of my Dad’s car, listening to a CD I later found out was titled, Rap To The Max – a compilation of the most relevant Hip Hop records at the time. Among the assortment of tracks, there was one in particular that grabbed my attention – A Tribe Called Quest – ‘Can I Kick It?’. Upon hearing the song, it prompted questions, questions that I have not stopped asking ever since that moment, which became the catalyst for my obsession with Hip Hop culture and music in general.
I’m Naye Fshr – a music journalist whose appreciation for the art of wordplay across many different mediums has shaped my interests, hobbies and career path. When I’m not writing about music, I’m probably producing music of my own, increasing my understanding of the nuances that musicians experience when captivated by the art form.
Naye Music Journal is a culmination of my musical thoughts and opinions – as well as those of others – stashed in one place, from interviews with artists to discussions about my music-related musings, my first thoughts on all things music can be found here.
